Spring 2014 Couture Gowns

Karl Lagerfeld’s night gowns from Chanel Spring 2014 Couture collection are very elegant, sparkly and fluttery with plenty of feathers, sequins and lightweight see-through fabrics. Those flapper style evening dresses are casually combined with comfy couture sneakers made by Massaro and models were running around the catwalk like they are in a “nightclub from another planet”, as the designer himself puts it.

And while Lagerfeld was reinventing the concept of the red carpet dress code by combining sporty shoes and elegant gowns, Elie Saab made yet another collection of classical evening dresses inspired by nineteenth-century Dutch artist Alma-Tadema who painted scenes from the Roman Empire.

Pierpaolo Piccoli and Maria Grazia Chiuri made another breathtakingly beautiful and otherworldly collection. Their stunning floor-length dresses are very glamorous but also fairytale like with flowers, musical keys and even tigers in wild forests embroidered on them.

Another dreamy and extremely feminine collection is the one by Giambattista Valli. He used luxurious materials and his signature floral patterns for this couture collection, while Giorgio Armani made some incredibly stylish and decadent dresses in his favorite navy blue and studded with Swarovski crystals. On the other hand, Elsa Schiaparelli played with colors and draping and Husein Chalayan was inspired by industrial design when making his couture collection for Vionnet.

There are already many inspiring dresses from spring 2014 couture collection and they are more shows yet to be seen in Paris. Have a look at modXchange‘s favorite spring 2014 couture gowns so far:
