“It’s not all down to my voice. There’s people with way more talent than I when it comes to singing. Bigger voices. But people want to know who you are. Fashion is a clear indication, a way to express your attitude, your mood”, says Rihanna who announced that she is starting her own fashion label in an interview for US Vogue. This will not be the first time for Rihanna to design clothes, since she previously collaborated on a collection with Armani Jeans and co-designed for British brand River Island with Selman who designs her stage costumes.
She has a unique style and likes to combine tomboy look with sexy things like high heels and embellished tops. “I love baggy things. I wear men’s clothes, men’s shoes, oxfords, creepers”, she said to Vogue. She is also notorious for wearing bodysuits and men’s jackets, but we also discovered that she never wears a bra underneath a top: “If I’m wearing a bra, I just wear a bra”, she admits. When asked how did she develop her signature look, she replied: “When you’re on tour, you go to rehearse wearing sweats and sneaks. Then you practice your song in the heels you are going to wear that night. I realized, Wow, that looks cool!”
Rihanna is definitely not just a superstar singer but also a style icon that inspires many fashion designers. “There is no one else that excites me more”, said Alexander Wang while Peter Dundas called her “a very talented dresser, in the way that Kate Moss is”. Olivier Rousteing said that she is “the new Wonder Woman”, and according to Tom Ford “she can throw on combinations you can’t imagine other people could possibly wear, and look great. In the fashion world she has inspired a very, very loose mix of random items.”
Judging by her personal style, we can only assume that her first collection will feature a lot of tomboy looks and sexy clothes, but there is no doubt that she will find a way to shock and surprise us.
One of the most exciting things about every fashion week is monitoring fashion trends at front rows, parties and streets. New York fashion crowd is always cool and stylish, without being too eccentric and flamboyant. Apart from celebrities, it is always fun to see what bloggers and magazine editors are wearing. This week they were sporting mainly warm clothes as weather conditions were harsh, but there were also some interesting pieces from spring/summer collections which they mixed with winter gear.
There were quite a lot of red gowns at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony this year, and all of them were very impressive. Amy Adams, who was awarded the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for the role in American Hustle wore Valentino Couture dress in two shades of red. Lupita Nyong’o was dressed in Ralph Lauren red gown, Berenice Bejo looked stunning in Giambattista Valli dress, while Emma Watson rocked Dior Couture red dress with black trousers underneath.
Jennifer Lawrence who won the Best Supporting Actress in a Musical or Comedy award for a role in American Hustle also wore Dior Couture dress. She has chosen the white one with black stripes and matched it with black Roger Vivier clutch.
Sally Hawkins who was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award for the role in Woody Allen’s film Blue Jasmine showed up in a beautiful vintage Dior dress from William Vintage, while his year’s Best Actress in Drama – Cate Blanchet wore Armani Prive Couture black lace dress.
Michelle Dockery and Zooey Deschanel wore gowns from Oscar de la Renta, while Olivia Wide and Drew Barrymore both showed up with fantastic dresses to cover their baby bumps. While Olivia wore a beautiful dark green sparkly dress from Gucci Premiere, Drew has chosen floral gown from Monique Lhuillier.

“Fashion in News – Karlie Kloss Eddie Redmayne Temptation Island”
Karlie Kloss and Eddie Redmayne
by ModXchange Fashion
3 December 2011
NEW YORK, New York — | VOGUE has its “Eye” on Temptress and Rogue mixing femme-dom with royal international playboy flare. ModXchange adores it and cannot help feeling reminded of the 1955 classic, To Catch a Thief. Princess Grace of Monaco, then actress Beauty G r a c e K e l l y applied voluminous wiles to entrap Parisian jewel snatcher C a r y G r a n t . However now it’s a seasonal twist from V O G U E whisking model K a r l i e K l o s s and actor Twilight-er E d d i e R e d m a y n e and us away from the hedonism on the Riviera to the sultry isle of Ibizia, where the lovers entangle in a salacious show-not-tell.
Kloss’ resortwear is strictly feminine, with prints echoing a simpler era of smooth tailored lines coupled with vivacious colour. Redmayne’s restraint from catching Kloss and drawing her to him is near to utterly irrepressible; he – a daring ruffian in jacketed chic.
Whether either is besprent in patterned Louis Vuitton or geminate Calvin Klein, their model looks… titillating.
See why we’re blushing.
Karlie on the water: Céline floral-print leather biker jacket; matching cotton shirt ($1,050) and pants ($960).
Céline, Bal Harbour FL. Her Jimmy Choo clutch paired with B Brian Atwood sandals.
Etro cotton shirt ($572) find at select Etro boutiques. Eres bikini top ($135) and bottom ($150). with Eres, East Hampton on Karlie. Redmayne spiffed in Louis Vuitton blazer. His shirt: from Calvin Klein Collection. Trousers: Prada.

“Fashion in News – Versace for H&M Sold Out in 30 Minutes”
by ModXchange Fashion Worldwide
18 November 2011
LONDON, United Kingdom, NEW YORK, New York – | F a s h i o n may covet praise but fashionistas, fashionisters, and more hit starting marks, ready to pounce upon what’s become the most coveted high-street wear collection so far… the Versace collection for H&M.
While rumour of designer T o m F o r d is already in queue for H&M’s next fashion Olympics collaboration tryouts, the question was, who wasn’t about on world streets, camped out, ready to vamp it out when D o n a t e l l a ‘ s prints, motifs, and coloured garbs released, less than discreetly at 9 a.m. the day prior.
Donatella Versace opened the doors to one and all (not to mention the commercial spots, which are teasingly fun) but not without some stringent rhyme and rules.
The London Regent Street H&M location set the tone for the on-your-mark, get-set, go, event with modifications impelled to prevent mishaps with pushing, shoving, and assorted fights, occurring with past design collaborative releases.
Nor were any allowed to pass security or pole vault across barring only to resell items at inflated pricing.
Shoppers were given leisure to purchase just one size, per garment selected.
Clientele attempting to secure their favourite new Versace wants online were derailed but quickly…
H&M’s website was brought to a crescendo then ‘crash.’
Versace ensemble pieces turned up on ebay and in cities Beijing and Dubai H&M stores tore though their racks, selling out in less than 30 – minutes.
At Emmanuelle Alt’s very posh preview party, “within 15 minutes, the rails had been picked clean of all black dresses, but the French crowd seemed less keen on the more colorful items.”
By morning and the H&M website’s reboot, the Versace collection…sold out.
The bargains found…? Priceless.
What H&M’s Jenn Uglialoro-Ward means, 51st and 5th streets are in New York, New York.
Some die-hard Versace big-apples are going to receive a special surprise.
Uglialoro-Ward tweeted Friday,
Those missing out on Jenn’s gifts…
Ready, get set.. shop!
