Colorful fur jackets were very popular this winter but this trend went step further and next year we will be seeing a lot of colorful patchwork and vivid prints on fur. Miuccia Prada even made some printed fur coats for the summer, but we have seen more of this at fall/winter shows. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, well known for his artistic prints on clothes, used them on fur this time, while Altuzarra, Aquilano Rimondi and Daks have shown us interesting patterns printed on fur.
Patchwork is definitely a huge trend for fall/winter 2014 and we have seen some beautiful coats made from colorful patches at Phillip Lim, Roksanda Ilincic and Topshop Unique. Prada’s latest collection includes some leather coats with fur trimmings in vivid colors, while Vercase and Dolce&Gabbana designed some amazing fur coats in bright red which look incredibly warm.
This season is all about miniature bags which are barely able to cope with a set of keys and a lipstick. Maybe they are not too practical, but everybody is wearing them. While Dolce & Gabbana created tiny handbags you can hold with one finger, Vlentino fall/winter 2013/2014 collection features small boxy cluthes that are teamed with glamorous night gowns. Jean Paul Gaultier designed a metal clutch mimicking his signature perfume packaging, and Chanel globe purse is almost as small as a key ring.
There were also some great oversized bags on catwalks from Prada totes in leather and tweed to classical Mulberry or Hermes bags in croco skin. Giorgio Armani, Balenciaga, Giambattista Valli and Lanvin are the best choice if you want a classical ladylike bag, however, if you are looking for a prefect work bag, Alexander Wang’s A4 sized twofold bag in grey pony skin is just ideal for you.
Many fall/winter collections are featuring some beautiful printed bags including Burberry heart print, Givenchy polka dots and Andy Wrhol’s shoes on Christian Dior handbags.
Buying a fur bag is another great way to add a bit of trend to your wardrobe. There are plenty of options from Fendi and Phillip Lim stripy bags in rainbow colors to Louis Vuitton fluffy handbags.
This fall is not just about leather jackets and coats, but everything from dresses and skirts to gloves and boots. Leather is this season’s must and it is completely reinvented and used in unexpected ways. While Prada fall/winter collection features some beautiful and extravagant long red leather skirts, Viktor & Rolf designed leather jackets with huge bows, and Valentino royal blue A line dresses with white lace left everyone breathless. Dior, Mulberry, Lanvin and Haider Ackermann produced some inventive leather coats and, among many others, Fendi, House of Holland and Roksanda Ilincic designed beautiful leather shirts and tops.
Trend varies from fierce looking jackets and trousers inspired by grunge and architectural shapes to romantic ladylike dresses in 40s style. It is leather head to toe quite literally, since Phillip Lim and Chanel even covered legs in it.
