We usually see models on catwalks dressed up in extravagant clothes and walking in high heels, but in reality, they look very casual and often wear jeans. It is an unwritten rule that no one can style a pair of denim trousers better than a professional model. Depending on the occasion, jeans can look smart or casual and there is literally countless number of ways to wear a single pair.
For sporty but sexy look, you can wear skinny jeans with sneakers or combat boots and a short jacket and accessorize it with a big scarf and a leather bag. If you want to make this look more urban and smart, match your denim with a silk blouse, a pair of leather boots and an elegant coat. You can also wear jeans with high heels and add a bit of glamour with trendy jewelry and a small elegant clutch bag, or go for a tomboy style and wear ripped denim with a cool slogan T-shirt, ankle boots and a colorful coat.
This is how models wore jeans during recent fashion weeks in London, Paris and Milan when off duty:
Pierpaolo Piccoli and Maria Grazia Chiuri designed another beautiful collection for men which is the epitome of that distinctive Valentino style. The collection is very laid back and casual with lots o jeans, loose silhouettes and pajama inspired suits, but also very elegant and chic with many handmade pieces which are more likely to be classified as couture than ready-to-wear. “Couture is the DNA of our brand and what we think is good to get into every single thing we do”, said Piccioli.
It is a very diverse collection, since it includes everything from denim jumpsuits to double-faced cashmere coats which are handcrafted in Valentino atelier in Rome. Their aim was “to create something special, high-quality, modern and contemporary — and iconic — for each category, to propose pieces like objects of desire.”
Coats are the most interesting part of the collection, and they overshadow everything else with eye-catching prints and superb tailoring. There are classical herring-bone tweed coats, wooly ones with kilim pattern and even patchwork coats in black, white and grey tones. There are a few coats with howl print at the back and across shoulders which looks very impressive. Classical suits look very elegant and luxurious, but there are also some causal ones which are matched with white sneakers and made from jeans or tweed with camouflage print.
It is not just a mere coincidence that Karl Lagerfeld decided to show his latest collection in Dallas, Texas. Each December, Chanel sets the catwalk in one of the places around the world which has a special meaning to the brand. Dallas is an important city in the history of this fashion house since in 1957 Gabrielle Coco Chanel received the prestigious Neiman Marcus’ fashion award.
The event was truly spectacular with hundreds of celebrities attending it, including actresses Dakota Fanning, Kristen Stewart and Lauren Hutton. Before the show, all guests were invited into Lagefeld’s ‘drive in’ cinema to see his short film ‘The Return’, where he appeared with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and former Vogue editor André Leon Talley.
Lagerfeld drew his inspiration from Texas and the collection is abundant with fringe, denim, feathers and pearls. He made the Wild West look more romantic with fluttery dresses combined with styled ponchos as well as the cowboy boots. Classical Chanel suit received an interesting makeover with plenty of fringe trimming. Leather and jeans were playing an important role in this collection too, and were used in unexpected ways. Denim dresses and leather skirts look incredibly elegant and feminine, especially with addition of sequins and ruffles. There are a lot of warm and cosy jumpers and coats in bright colors for both men and women, but also some amazing accessories such as cowboy hats and leather and fur bags.
