Colorful fur jackets were very popular this winter but this trend went step further and next year we will be seeing a lot of colorful patchwork and vivid prints on fur. Miuccia Prada even made some printed fur coats for the summer, but we have seen more of this at fall/winter shows. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, well known for his artistic prints on clothes, used them on fur this time, while Altuzarra, Aquilano Rimondi and Daks have shown us interesting patterns printed on fur.
Patchwork is definitely a huge trend for fall/winter 2014 and we have seen some beautiful coats made from colorful patches at Phillip Lim, Roksanda Ilincic and Topshop Unique. Prada’s latest collection includes some leather coats with fur trimmings in vivid colors, while Vercase and Dolce&Gabbana designed some amazing fur coats in bright red which look incredibly warm.
The new generation of foundations is quite different from everything we have tried before. They are designed to cover all imperfections including wrinkles, creases and uneven skin tone. The idea was to create products that will look like second skin and appear flawless under the magnifying glass of high definition cameras.
Clinique’s Even Better foundation claims to be able to even the skin tone which is crucial for young and fresh look. Unevenly colored skin looks tired and most of the old foundations cannot do anything about it. The product contains Vitamins C and E, as well as white birch extract – the substances which are supposed to reduce unevenness of skin color over time.
Another foundation that claims to improve the look of the skin over time is Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup. It contains water granules along with vitamins and minerals. It has been proven that after using this foundation for a month skin looks softer, smoother and more hydrated. Bobbi Brown latest foundation called Luminous Moisturizing Treatment Foundation. As the manufacturers say themselves: “it doesn’t look like a foundation – it looks like skin”.
Chanel Lift Lumiere and Givenchy Photo Perfection are diffusing light and therefore hiding all the imperfections. They are using micro granules of silicone as the main light diffuser, but also Mica which reflects the light and evens skin tone too.
The latest issue of British Harper’s Bazaar brings exciting editorial styled by Carine Roitfeld and photographed by Karl Lagerfeld featuring the coolest pieces from spring/summer collections. She mixed pinks with reds and African turbans with Prada printed fur coats, but her outrageous combinations worked well.
The forthcoming season looks very colorful and flamboyant through Roitfeld’s eyes. There are a lot of bright colors, fabulous prints, delicate embellishments and adorable accessories. She picked the most fabulous clothes from Chanel, Prada, Givenchy, Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs, Celine, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Christian Dior, JW Anderson, Lanvin, Altuzzara, Gucci and Giorgio Armani and chose Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Karolina Kurkova, Kate Gooding, Alewya Demmisse and Sabrina Loffreda to pose for the campaign.
From Phoebe Philo’s collection for Celine which is abundant with bold prints and bright colors, to Dolce & Gabbana who experimented with florals and illustrations, many designers used a lot of quirky prints and vivid patterns in their collections. Inspired by femininity and powerful women, Muccia Prada created one of her most extraordinary collections and collaborated with painters whose illustrations she printed on clothes.
Giles used some unpublished photographs and printed them on fabrics, while Riccardo Tisci’s collection for Givenchy features fun and colorful tribal motifs. Miu Miu collection for spring/summer 2014 includes plenty of bright colors and cute flower and animal prints, while Antonio Marras used florals in pastel colors but also some black and white avant-garde prints.
Craziest prints were seen at Stella Jean show at Milan Fashion week. She was inspired by exotic flowers and animals, whereas Aquilano Rimondi collection features some adorable stylish printed silk skirs, dresses and shirts with illustrations of tropical islands.
This season is all about miniature bags which are barely able to cope with a set of keys and a lipstick. Maybe they are not too practical, but everybody is wearing them. While Dolce & Gabbana created tiny handbags you can hold with one finger, Vlentino fall/winter 2013/2014 collection features small boxy cluthes that are teamed with glamorous night gowns. Jean Paul Gaultier designed a metal clutch mimicking his signature perfume packaging, and Chanel globe purse is almost as small as a key ring.
There were also some great oversized bags on catwalks from Prada totes in leather and tweed to classical Mulberry or Hermes bags in croco skin. Giorgio Armani, Balenciaga, Giambattista Valli and Lanvin are the best choice if you want a classical ladylike bag, however, if you are looking for a prefect work bag, Alexander Wang’s A4 sized twofold bag in grey pony skin is just ideal for you.
Many fall/winter collections are featuring some beautiful printed bags including Burberry heart print, Givenchy polka dots and Andy Wrhol’s shoes on Christian Dior handbags.
Buying a fur bag is another great way to add a bit of trend to your wardrobe. There are plenty of options from Fendi and Phillip Lim stripy bags in rainbow colors to Louis Vuitton fluffy handbags.
From Dolce & Gabbana to Burberry, many designers used red for their fall/winter collections. It is certainly one of the hottest colors of the season. Valentino used it along with royal blue and the combination of black and white in his dreamy collection inspired by Flemish artists of the 17th century for elegant romantic dresses, coats, shoes and tiny bags.
There is a lot of red color going on in floral print winter dresses by Givenchy, Roberto Cavalli, Lanvin and Giambattista Valli, while Burberry, Margaret Howell and Christopher Kane decided to go for bold red in their minimalistic design.
Dior red coat with a big bow is definitely a statement piece and one of the ModXchange’s favorites, along with Dolce & Gabbana gorgeous velvet strap shoes with mosaic decorated heels.
As for the beauty trends, red nails are also hot this season, as seen at Valentino, Burberry and Chanel, while burgundy lips are also popular from classic dark red to soft, smudged look.
