Colorful fur jackets were very popular this winter but this trend went step further and next year we will be seeing a lot of colorful patchwork and vivid prints on fur. Miuccia Prada even made some printed fur coats for the summer, but we have seen more of this at fall/winter shows. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, well known for his artistic prints on clothes, used them on fur this time, while Altuzarra, Aquilano Rimondi and Daks have shown us interesting patterns printed on fur.
Patchwork is definitely a huge trend for fall/winter 2014 and we have seen some beautiful coats made from colorful patches at Phillip Lim, Roksanda Ilincic and Topshop Unique. Prada’s latest collection includes some leather coats with fur trimmings in vivid colors, while Vercase and Dolce&Gabbana designed some amazing fur coats in bright red which look incredibly warm.
From Phoebe Philo’s collection for Celine which is abundant with bold prints and bright colors, to Dolce & Gabbana who experimented with florals and illustrations, many designers used a lot of quirky prints and vivid patterns in their collections. Inspired by femininity and powerful women, Muccia Prada created one of her most extraordinary collections and collaborated with painters whose illustrations she printed on clothes.
Giles used some unpublished photographs and printed them on fabrics, while Riccardo Tisci’s collection for Givenchy features fun and colorful tribal motifs. Miu Miu collection for spring/summer 2014 includes plenty of bright colors and cute flower and animal prints, while Antonio Marras used florals in pastel colors but also some black and white avant-garde prints.
Craziest prints were seen at Stella Jean show at Milan Fashion week. She was inspired by exotic flowers and animals, whereas Aquilano Rimondi collection features some adorable stylish printed silk skirs, dresses and shirts with illustrations of tropical islands.
As winter is approaching, we are looking for a warm and cozy, but stylish winter dresses to tuck into. From Marc Jacobs’s fur dress to Alberta Ferretti’s plush evening gown, designers opted for luxurious and warm fabrics this season. Rather than just buying a tweed suit, you can make things more interesting by choosing a dress instead. Dolce & Gabbana tweed dresses are very elegant and great for various occasions, from going to work, to attending a dinner party. On the other hand, Marc Jacobs invented a playful combination of tweed and fur for his evening winter dresses for Louis Vuitton, while Stella McCartney made dresses that are mimicking men suits.
Velvet dress is also a great investment buy if you want to add a bit of trend to your wardrobe, but also keep it forever. Alberta Ferretti, Ralph Lauren and Emporio Armani have some amazing plush dresses in different shapes and sizes. You can choose anything from casual, everyday long or short dress, to a lush floor-length evening gown.
Another way to achieve glamorous look is to invest in a timeless long sleeved satin dress, such as the one from Valentino Couture, Zac Posen or Marni. Paule Ka fall/winter 2013/2014 collection features some amazing simple dresses if you want to go for that that irresistible Parisian effortless style, but if you want the perfect warm mini dress that can be teamed with long boots and a pretty coat, go for Emilio Pucci.
