How to Wear Orange Lipstick this Spring?

orange lips

According to beauty experts, “orange is the new red” in the world of lipsticks. From bright “tangerine” orange to soft, natural, peachy shades, there is a hue to match every skin tone, but you must choose wisely. Orange isn’t an easy color to wear! Electric, vibrant shades that we have seen at Rag &Bone, Dennis Basso, Prabal Gurung and DNKY show will look great on healthy and tanned skin with just a bit of mascara. To achieve this look, among other lipsticks you can use Chanel Rouge Allure Intense Lip Color in Incandesente, Lancome Rouge in Love Lipstick in Madame Tulipe or Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Orange.

We have also seen orange lipstick at Creatures of the Wind show and NARS created a look for the runway. Lead artist James Boehmer said that the makeup was inspired by the artist Eugene von Bruenchenhein. He used NARS Timanfaya Satin Lip Pencil for the lips and white Iceland Duo eyeshadow for the eyes.

However, if your skin is pale, neon orange can be a disastrous choice. To find a shade that will match your delicate ivory skin tone you should browse through natural color palettes and choose a shade of soft peachy orange that suits you best. To recreate the look seen at Fendi spring/summer show, you can pick Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Fireball or Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti.

Red orange shades look great on dark skin and they also make a perfect evening makeup look unlike the bright tangerine orange. Among other products you can choose Rouge Dior in Trafalgar, Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Color in Maya or MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Sweet Grenadine.

How to Wear Pink Makeup this Spring?

pink makeup spring summer 2014

“Pink instantly lifts and brightens any skin tone,” says makeup artist Bobbi Brown whose makeup collection named “Uber Pink” is simply amazing and includes lipsticks, lip glosses, blushers and nail polishes. It is certainly a great color for a blusher since it makes your skin looks healthy and glowing. This summer pink cheeks are going to be very hip, especially if you add a bit of shimmer. Bobbi Brown’s Illuminating Bronzing Powder is the ideal option if you want to rock this trend and it comes in two shades of pink: Be Pretty and Be Bold. It can be a great addition to your no-makeup natural look which is one of the key makeup styles of the season.

We have also seen pink eye shadows at Burberry spring/summer show, but it can be a little tricky to wear. With eye shadow colors such as pink and purple, you can easily go wrong and make your eyes look tired. To avoid this effect, make sure to align inner corners of your eye with a nude pencil and carefully blend in with the pink.

When it comes to pink lipsticks and nail polishes, the coolest way to wear them is to choose soft, pale hues that will look very natural and sophisticated.

LA based designer Brian Lichtenberg, world famous for his T-shirts with mock logos: “Homíes” for Hermés and “Féline” for Céline, debuted at New York Fashion Week with his spring/summer 2014 collection. His first collection is cool and punchy in urban punk-rock style. Since it features sexy pieces like mini skirts, cropped tops, tiny dresses with long zippers and colorful graffiti prints, it is a true rock star collection and it is no surprise that Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn are amongst the top celebrities who love it.

Makeup is just perfect for stage! It is a daring combination of smokey eyes and red lipstick, and it is matched with sharp red nails and wet hair tied in a ponytail.

Spring/Summer 2014 Beauty Trends from New York Fashion Week: Ivana Helsinki

new-york-fashion-week1

Inspired by Clint Eastwood’s film from 1995 “Bridges of Madison County”, Ivana Helsinki’s spring/summer collection is very romantic with plenty of lace, ruffles, polka dots and straw hats. Hair was done by Matthew Curtis for TRESemmé and makeup artist was AJ Crimson. Soft loose curls, small braids and burgundy lips are just perfect for the summer because this look is very delicate and feminine, but with a hint of bohemian style.

Hair is neatly parted on the side and done asymmetrically with trendy mermaid waves on the left and tiny braids on the right. This hairdo also looks great underneath hats and scarfs that Ivana Helsinki used a lot for this collection. As for the makeup, the accent is on the lips which are painted in dark reds, while there is almost no makeup on the eyes.

Spring/Summer 2014 Hair Trends: Low Ponytail

In the forthcoming season we will be wearing beach waves, fringe, plenty of hair accessories, more braids and of course – low ponytails. Neatly done ponytail at the back of your head is going to be a massive trend, but it can be styled in several ways. It can look very casual if worn with black hairband and neutral makeup, as seen at Victoria Beckham show. You can add a bit of drama with red lipstick like at Altuzarra or keep the nude look but make it more interesting with hair accessories as seen at Valentino catwalk. If you want full evening styling, you can fasten your ponytail with a metal clip, spray a bit of glitter and go for smokey eyes. This look was seen at Jason Wu spring/summer 2014 show.

For this hairdo you need to have long and well groomed hair, but you can also add extensions if your hair is mid-length. You can choose to go with casual and matte look or imply opt for a wet look which is going to be quite popular too.
