Alexander Wang’s fall/winter 2014 collection is all about surviving extreme weather conditions. As the whole planet is suffering because of the global warming, Wang tells us that the future has already started in the world of fashion. He closed the show with a series of hi-tech pieces made out of heat-activated leather which emits the light in different colors.
His long coats and high boots are equipped with pockets cut in different shapes that can fit various objects from Moleskine notebooks and smart phones to lighters and lipsticks. Moreover, his bags don’t resemble normal totes or clutches, but consist of several interconnected parts created for different kinds of objects. “It was really about taking that idea of survival to an urban landscape,” said Wang. From woolly jackets to silk dresses, all pieces from this collection indeed look like super-stylish survival gear for modern urban women.
