Famous American actress Zooey Deschanel was invited by Tommy Hilfiger to create a capsule collection and four of her sketches are now revealed and published around the world. She was inspired by 1960-s style and designed 16 dresses. They are very feminine and flirty, perfectly depicting Deschanel’s cheerful and bubbly personality. “There is a lot of red, white and blue, but done in a Zooey way with interesting detail and flirty fabrics. They are very Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy – really from the Sixties in London. That’s not something we would normally put in our regular sportswear line – maybe we’d be inspired by the Sixties for the runway, but it’s a new way to look at fun, American classics”, said Hilfiger.
The designer met Deschanel through a mutual friend and was impressed with her sophistication and sense of humor. He compared her to Audrey Hepburn and invited her to design a collection for the brand.
With prices ranging between $ 98 and $ 199, dresses are very affordable. Fourteen pieces from the collection will be launched at Macy’s on April 14th, while the whole range will be available at Tommy.com on April 21st.
