Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Collection
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana invited only about 150 guests to see their couture collection in their studio in Milan. It was a unique couture experience since the pieces they shown were one-off-a-kind delicate designs that were no less than fashion artworks.
This was the duo’s fourth couture or alta moda collection, and it is so exclusive that only a handful of fashion editors were invited to see it, no Instagram pictures were allowed and none of the designs will be seen on celebrities, regardless of their popularity or rank.
The concept behind this collection is transformation of women into an artwork and therefore they replicated masterpieces of Van Gogh, Manet and Renoir on the dresses. They revealed that in order to do that, they needed a permission from international museums.
The collection also includes flamboyant ball gowns with hundreds of hand-stitched flower appliques, but also some extravagant day looks.
