Posh Girls at Boarding School: House of Holland Pre-Fall 2014

Henry Holland’s latest collection is very imaginative, colorful and girly with many quirky details such as polka dot shoes, crazy prints and mismatched patterns. The inspiration comes from English boarding schools, but the designer focused on the fun aspect of it, excluding the dull uniforms and well behaved girls.

The collection is extremely cheerful and features pieces like short skirts and small tops with scalloped edges, colorful mini dresses, redesigned school uniforms and printed trousers and shirts. One of the dresses was inspired by the ‘True Romance’ movie poster and was made in collaboration with the illustrator Hattie Stewart.

Holland used different fabrics from plain jersey for T-shirts to faux fur for coats. Suits and dresses made from jacquard with school crests pattern on it look stunning, but the collection also includes a few outrageous pieces such as the red vinyl skirt and a pair of delicately embroidered denim shorts.
