Dolce & Gabbana created one of the most eccentric looking makeup collections this Holiday season. It is inspired by their fall/winter ready-to-wear collection and each piece is designed after a precious gemstone. This adorable eight-piece limited-edition is named Sicilian Jewels Collection, and comprises four rich lip colors and matching nail lacquers in Amethyst purple, Topaz Yellow, Ruby red and Emerald green.
Purple and red are festive colors anyway, but how does one pull off yellow or green lipstick? Dolce & Gabbana’s makeup artist Pat McGrath explains why they selected this color palette: “We chose four new shades that showcase the theatrical and playful side of looking good: they are so shiny and special that they’ll be a perfect complement to any holiday or New Year outfit.”
He demonstrated how to wear green lipstick in his interview for http://www.vogue.co.uk. He said that emerald look is more for a everyday occasions like meeting friends for lunch, and that he sees this color as both feminine and striking. He suggests to begin with Dolce & Gabbana’s Perfect Matte Finish Foundation, and then continue with The Blush in Nude and The Illuminator in Eva. In order to enhance the effect of green lipstick, he suggests that it should be mixed with makeup in gold tones such as eye shadow, eyeliner and a hint of golden lip gloss on top of emerald lipstick.
