Giambattista Valli’s monograph published by Rizzoli brings wonderful pictures and a unique insight into life and career of the famous Italian couturier working in Paris. He is one of the most romantic living designers whose creations are so feminine and elegant that they look like they are from another world.
The book takes us on a backstage tour and features some beautiful unpublished photos, contents of his sketchbooks and words by the designer John Galliano, public-relations executive, former actress and interior decorator Lee Radziwill, as well as the curator at the Musée de la Mode et du Textile in Paris, Pamela Golbin. Many others were involved in the making of this book including Italian Vogue editor Franca Sozzani, designer Maria Silvia Venturini Fendi and actress Diane Kruger. All of them contributed in their own way from editing sketches to revising sections.
Valli who launched his own line in 2005 in Paris is famous for his sense of luxury, impeccable tailoring and attention to detail. He is much loved by everyone famous including royalty and A list celebrities. This book is the first monograph about him and it reveals the creative process from his first sketch to the catwalk. It also shows amazing close-ups and reveals incredible detailing on his fairy-tale dresses.
